DO’S

Must-Haves for an Italian Wedding

Create a wedding website...

… for your destination wedding where you can share all travel information and collect your guests’ RSVPs in one place. Having all details available in a single hub helps avoid receiving the same questions over and over again and allows you to organize everything smoothly.

Arrange transportation communication.

If you have common bus pick-up points for your guests to reach the venue, create a WhatsApp group to communicate quickly and easily in case of delays or important updates.

Prepare a second pair of shoes.

Many rustic venues are stunning because of their natural charm, but they can make walking in stilettos difficult all day long. Ask a bridesmaid to keep a pair of comfortable shoes close by so you can change whenever needed.

Summer wedding?

Consider providing fans for your guests, placed in baskets at the ceremony entrance. It’s a thoughtful gesture and always very much appreciated.

Ceremony on the grass?

Heel protectors are a perfect addition to a welcome bag and a practical gift for your female guests.

Plan for cooler evenings.

Even in Italy, temperatures can drop after sunset. Depending on the season and region, the weather can be unpredictable. Ask your on-site team for advice to avoid guests feeling cold during an outdoor dinner. Personalized blankets can also be a lovely and practical wedding favor if it gets a bit chilly.

Double-check before leaving the venue that you have collected everything you want to take home.

Forgotten items like guest books or personal decorations can be difficult to ship afterward, so make sure all important belongings are packed before departure.

Plan photo sessions wisely.

If you would like photos taken at a location far from your wedding venue, consider scheduling this on a separate day. Otherwise, you risk spending a large part of your wedding day driving instead of enjoying the celebration.

DON’TS

Mistakes to Avoid

Never save on the bridal bouquet.

You may prefer minimal floral décor — and that’s perfectly fine — but the bouquet is a key element of your look. It appears in almost all portrait photos and is an extension of your style and personality. Choose flowers, colors, and a composition that truly represents you.

Avoid overly heavy wedding menus.

Mediterranean cuisine is generally well balanced, but especially in summer, rich and heavy dishes can feel overwhelming. Skip dense, sausage-based or cheese-heavy courses if you want your guests energized and ready to dance rather than struggling with digestion.

Limit the number of speeches during dinner.

While it’s a meaningful moment and many loved ones may want to speak, keep speeches short and well timed. Ideally, schedule them before dinner begins to avoid service delays and guests sitting for too long. Some speeches can also be moved to the welcome drinks or the night before.

Don’t plan early morning activities the day after the wedding.

After a long celebration, guests may struggle with early departures. Allow them time to rest, recover, and fully absorb the magic of your wedding before embarking on sightseeing or excursions.

Wedding Day Timeline

This is what a classic wedding day in Italy can look like:

Prosecco breakfast (must have “lol”) and preparation with hair and make service for the bride and the bridal party in an intimate setting,

Light lunch..

..with some fingerfood appetizers you can eat easily while you are getting dressed

Wedding ceremony:

depending on the period of the year the timing can vary between 2.00pm and 4.00pm - together with your planner you will choose the perfect moment to have enough time and daylight to get many beautiful pictures after the ceremony - you can go for a little aperitif after the ceremony, and while your guests continue to enjoy the drinks reception you can go with your photographer and videographer to take your individual pictures

Directly after the wedding..

..you continue with the drinks reception, for around 2 hours, where your guests will be enchanted by drinks and a finger food buffet

Wedding dinner..

..starts between 6.00pm and 7.30pm, first the speeches followed by the wedding dinner (you can consider around 2,5 hours for a 3 course served dinner)

Cake cutting around 9.00pm to 10.30pm

..followed by the after dinner party and dancing
